Isanti County was originally settled by lumberjacks from New England in search of fresh trees to harvest. It is located 35 miles north of downtown Minneapolis.  Its proximity to I-35 and US Hwy 169 makes it attractive to companies ready to relocate or expand north of the Twin Cities.  It is located on the BNSF Railway’s mainline between Minneapolis and Duluth.  Isanti County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. It has a diverse workforce that draws from 14 surrounding counties.
 
Isanti County is home to many tech-intensive manufacturers in industries such as metals, plastics, automotive parts, printing/publishing, testing labs, food processing, and materials handling.  Other industries are medical devices, recreational vehicles, grain-handling equipment, food products, electronic equipment and automobiles.
